Considus
Software, considered.
To build a small number of tools that earn their place in people's lives — made with care, priced honestly, and built to last.
Our work
A small portfolio,
built to last.
Each product is built because it should exist — not because it scales.
How we build
Five constraints.
Not one is optional.
These are not marketing claims. They are the standards every product built under the Considus name must meet.
01
Permanence over novelty.
A Considus product is built to last. No VC timeline, no pivot, no sunsetting because growth stalled. If it earns its place, it stays.
02
Privacy as infrastructure.
Not a feature. Not a badge. Not an upgrade tier. The correct way to build anything that holds private data. End-to-end encryption is the baseline.
03
Simplicity as the hard problem.
Every Considus product is harder to simplify than to complicate. Complexity is the easy path. Restraint is the discipline.
04
An honest business model.
No dark patterns. No data as payment. One honest price for a complete product. Respect is the first line of the business model.
05
Craftsmanship over completeness.
A small number of things done with genuine quality is worth more than a large number done adequately. The measure of success is whether something earns its place in a life — not whether it has feature parity.
The studio
One person.
No shortcuts.
Considus is an independent software studio. There is one person here. No team, no investors, no product roadmap driven by growth targets.
Every product is built because it ought to exist — because there is a real gap, a real person without a good answer, and because making it well is worth the time it takes.
The studio was founded in 2026 following the UK government's removal of Advanced Data Protection from iCloud — the feature that provided genuine end-to-end encryption for Apple Notes and Reminders. That decision made visible a gap the market had not filled: software that feels as considered as Apple's own tools, built with privacy as a structural truth rather than a marketing position.
Catchlight is the first answer to that gap. More things will follow when they are ready.
The name
Etymological
Con Sidus (Latin)
To stargaze — to navigate by fixed points of light. Orienting by what does not move.
Verbal
Considera
To think carefully before acting. Deliberate, unhurried, precise.
Invitation
Consider us
Not "look at us" — think of us when it matters.
Pronounced con-SEE-dus. Three syllables.
Privacy
Your data is yours.
Full stop.
Considus products treat your data as yours. End-to-end encryption is how every product is built — not as a feature, not as an upgrade tier, not as a marketing claim.
Questions
What people ask.
-
What is Considus?
Considus is an independent software studio based in the United Kingdom, founded in 2026. It builds a small number of carefully made personal tools — designed to last, priced honestly, and built with privacy as infrastructure rather than a feature.
-
What apps does Considus make?
The first product is Catchlight — a private, beautifully simple iOS app for notes, reminders, and tasks, with end-to-end encryption by default. More products will follow when they are ready.
-
Who is behind Considus?
Considus is a one-person studio. There is no team, no investors, and no product roadmap driven by growth targets. Every product is built because it ought to exist.

No. Considus is entirely self-funded and independent. There are no investors, no VC timeline, and no obligation to grow or pivot. Products are built to last, not to scale.
-
How does Considus approach privacy?
Privacy is infrastructure, not a feature. Every Considus product is built with end-to-end encryption as the baseline — not as a premium tier, not as a marketing claim. Considus does not hold your keys, does not access your content, and does not sell your data.
-
What platforms do Considus apps support?
Catchlight, the first product, launches on iOS (iPhone, iOS 17+). Additional platforms will follow in later versions. Future products may support different platforms depending on what they need to be.
